Day 11 - July 12 2005 - The Eagle has Landed

Today was a stream of meetings. It helped the day go by really fast though. When the last meeting ended it was time for me to go home.

I had a chat with Joanne my mentor again today. She asked me where I would geographically like to end up. I told her that I was on the fence and wasn't sure. She asked me what ties me to Thunder Bay and I told her my family. Then she asked me if there was anything else and I just said no. I told her that if I could get a position in Thunder Bay that would allow me to help the city or make a difference than I would take it. But I also said to ask me again in a year and I might say hell no I'm staying in T.O. I'm not sure what I'll want by then.

Joanne is a great mentor. My department is fantastic. They are all positive and supportive. Joanne said to me today "We set you up for success. It's not a matter of succeeding, we already know you will." She was great at debriefing me after the meeting they included me in on. The whole thing was Greek to me. She made sure to explain everything so that I wasn't lost or in the dark.

After the meeting I returned to my desk to find that Walter had burned me two more Eagles CDs. Hell freezes over (which I think I already have but in MP3 format) and the Very Best of the Eagles. He's too cool. I was talking with him earlier today with John the guy who sits next to me and Walter was telling us about the forensic anthropology course he took. They did case studies and witnessed autopsies. He even has bought some CSI like equipment. He really finds the whole subject fascinating because he knows an awful lot about it. Really cool guy. He sent me his DVD list because apparently he is the DVD rental place in the department. He beats me cause he has over 450 DVDs!
